Parliamentarians in today's meeting of House of Representatives' Zero Hour, drew the attention of the government to the fact that people's lives were affected in most parts of the country with the onset of monsoon.
Airing her voice, Man Kumari GC demanded serious consideration for disaster risk reduction, reduce and rehabilitation of the victims, stating that monsoon-triggered disasters such as landslide and flood had incurred huge loss of lives across the country.
Similarly, Bhupendra Bahadur Thapa called for rescue and relief package for the disaster victims. He blamed that the government was not paying attention towards early preparedness for monsoon-induced disasters.
Yasoda Gurung shared that traffic movement was shut down along Prithvi Highway due to landslide at Dumping and local and provincial government were coordinating to open the obstructed Highway. Rajendra Kumar Rai bemoaned, "The farmers are hit hard by fertilizers shortage in the beginning of paddy plantation season."
Meena Subba and Bimala BK rued over government's apathy towards farmers facing fertilizers shortage. They demanded that the situation to seek concerned minister every time to get fertilizer should be ended. Rajendra Prasad Lingden and Mahendra Kumari Limbu demanded release of the land reserved by the Kamal rural municipality in Jhapa district for construction of railway.
Mahesh Basnet expressed qualm over 25 per cent increase in the price of petroleum products such as diesel, petrol as well as materials for construction sector and asked for introducing programmes that would provide respite to the public. Min Bahadur Bishwakarma cited an incident at a Gurukul (school) in Lalitpur where students from Sunar caste were barred from enrollment and demanded action against School's principal Tej Prasad Bhattarai for allegedly promoting caste-based discrimination.
Rambir Manandhar underscored effective management of garbage in Kathmandu district and pledged to deliver efficiently if he was entrusted the responsibility for the same forming a parliamentary committee. Rangamati Shahi brought the illegal human trafficking of Nepalis in Gulf countries and others to the cognizance of the government and demanded a study on the issue.
