President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called upon all concerned to work for the promotion of Nepali cuisine. Expressing concern over the growing food challenge to the human community across the globe, President Bhandari said that all sides have an equal responsibility to increase local production and reduce food crisis through modern processing and better use.
In a meeting with campaigners, representatives of educational organizations, food experts and chef delegation at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday, she pointed out that the government has given special priority to local and international market promotion of Nepali indigenous cuisine.
Talking about the special role of Nepali cuisine to introduce Nepali identity to the world, President Bhandari thanked all the concerned parties for their continuous support in this campaign.
On the occasion, Professor of Sikkim University, India, Jyoti Prakash Tamang said that herbs and spices found in the Himalayan region of Nepal are as important as medicine.
Speaking on the occasion, Binayak Shah, Senior Vice President of Hotel Association of Nepal, said that they are holding discussions with Chefs and Hoteliers with the aim of promoting Nepali cuisine in more than 90 countries of the world.
