Nepal is out of the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup after losing to Thailand today. Nepal lost to Thailand by 41 runs in the match played at UKM Oval in Malaysia under the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers.
After the defeat, Nepal's chances of playing in the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa next year have ended. Chasing the target of 90 runs for the victory, Nepal lost all its wickets in 19.5 overs and were all out for 40 runs.
Nepal's Shrishti Jaishi scored 7 off 21 balls and Sana Pravin scored 6 off 21 balls. Nathita Bunsukham of Thailand took 3 wickets. Earlier, put into bat first, Thailand posted a total of 89 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Thipatcha Putthavong was the top scorer for Thailand with 20 runs. Nepal's Manisha Kumari Upadhyaya and Kritika Marasini took two wickets each and Sneha Mahara took one wicket. Earlier, Nepal had defeated Qatar by 79 runs in the first match and lost by 10 wickets to UAE in the second match. Similarly, Nepal defeated Bhutan by 4 wickets in the third match.
The top team in the six-nation tournament will be selected for the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup. Nepal will play its final game under the qualifiers against Malaysia on Thursday.
