A proposal of urgent public importance has been tabled in the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament, today, demanding a reduction in the price of petroleum products.
Lawmaker Devendra Dahal presented the proposal entitled 'Let initiatives be immediately taken to reduce the price for minimizing the impact of the hike in the prices of essential commodities and services, including cooking gas, diesel, petrol, kerosene and others.'
Tabling the motion in this connection, Dahal contended that the hike in the price of petroleum products was against the Price Determination Procedures and urged all the lawmakers to second the motion. Bhairab Sundar Shrestha, Bimala Ghimire, Khimlal Devkota and Shekhar Kumar Singh supported the proposal.
Taking part in the proposal lawmaker Pramila Kumari drew the attention of the government towards the exorbitant price hike and expressed her solidarity to the motion.
Jitendra Narayan Dev lauded the government recent decision of reducing the price of petroleum products by Rs 10 per litre and called on the government to take initiatives with the Government of India for addressing the issue of price rise of petroleum products.
