Nepal has reached semi-final in the ICC T-20 World Cup Cricket Qualifier after defeating Canada in today's match. Nepal defeated Canada by eight wickets in the final match of group held at Cricket Academy Ground-1 at Mascot, Oman. With this victory, Nepal has become the winner of Group 'B'. Nepal met the target of 81 runs by losing two wickets in 14.1 overs.
Kushal Bhurtel contributed the highest 34 runs being not out for Nepal. Similarly, Dipendra Singh Airee gathered 27 runs and Asif Sheikh 17 runs. Before this, winning the toss, Canada chose to bat first and made 80 runs in 15 overs by losing all wickets. Dillon Heyliger of Canada remained not out and made 24 runs. Captain Navneet Dhaliwal, Rayyan Pathan and Salman Nazar contributed 15, 14 and 10 runs respectively.
Likewise, Captain Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets. He became the player of the match. Abinash Bohara and Kamal Singh Airee took two wickets each. With the victory, Nepal became the winner of the Group by collecting six points in three matches. Similarly, Oman has reached semi-final becoming the first runner-up with four points. Nepal will play against UAE, the first runner-up of Group 'A', in semi-final on coming Tuesday.
Likewise, Oman and Ireland would face each other in another semi-final on the same day. Both teams reaching final would be selected for ICC Men's T-20 World Cup scheduled from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.
