Vice President Ram Sahai Prasad Yadav has said that although stroke usually occurs in people above the age of 55 years, it is a matter of concern that this problem is seen at a young age in Nepal.
He expressed this concern while addressing the first international conference of 'Napalese Academy of Neurology' in Kathmandu. "It is a matter of concern that many young people under the age of 45 are suffering from stroke in our country," he said. ’
Vice President Yadav said that the main reason for the increase in diseases is the disorderly lifestyle of the people. "A comfortable lifestyle, smoking, alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol cause many premature deaths. We need to improve our daily routine and lifestyle," he said, adding, "Many diseases can be controlled through regular exercise, healthy diet, periodic health check-ups and medical consultation."
Stressing on the diagnosis and treatment of neuro-related diseases, he stressed the need to reduce the long-term effects of the disease on different parts of the body. He said that although the condition of the health sector in the urban areas of Nepal is somewhat normal, it is still difficult for the common people living in remote villages to get timely treatment.
"We have to go abroad for treatment of more complex and deadly diseases. "International level services should be made available at home by removing this compulsion," he said, adding, "It is necessary for the government as well as organizations working in this field to be committed to save the lives of all Nepalis by making reliable arrangements for the prevention, control and treatment of neuro-related diseases."
Stating that the Napalese Academy of Neurology can play an important role in the control of diseases related to neurology, he expressed the belief that this conference would be successful in identifying and resolving the problems seen in the field of neurology.
On the occasion, Vice President Yadav handed over a letter of honour to Prof. Dr. Dinesh Vikram Shah, Prof. Dr. Rabindra Shrestha Dr. Birendra Kumar Bista on behalf of the organization. The program was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Krishna Kumar Oli who is president of Nepalese Academy of Neurology.
On the occasion, Dr. Oli presented tokens of respect and love to the doctors who presented their important thoughts and experiences about the problems seen in neurology and their solution. Dr. Oli also highlighted the current state of neurology and its solution.
At the event, Dr. Arun Sayami, Prof. Dinesh Vikram Shah, Prof. Dr. Rabindra Shrestha, Dr. Birendra Kumar Bista, Dr. Nalini Atchayaram (India) and others spoke on the emerging health issues. The programme, which was inaugurated on Saturday by chanting vedic mantras wishing for peace.
Neurological experts from different countries have been participating in the discussions.
