Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a historical meet today. Dahal who arrived in Hongzhou on Saturday for a weeklong visit to China held open discussion with Chinese President Xi on various issues of bilateral interests, the PM secretariat shared.
"On the occasion, the two leaders agreed to a need of shared collaboration among all regional forces for regional stability, peace and prosperity. The two leaders also discussed on the matters to further strengthen mutual collaboration by understanding each other's interests and sensitivities", the PM secretariat further noted.
President Xi has imparted a message that China is ready to collaborate and cooperate for Nepal's economic and social development, it is said. Prime Minister Dahal and Chinese President Xi had an hour long discussion in one-on-one and group meeting with delegates. Matters related to enhancement of mutual respect, support and equal existence based on the peaceful co-existence were said to have discussed in the meeting. Recalling that China has advanced very close relations with equity and co-existence sans discriminations on territorial size, Xi said the relations between the two countries would reach to a new height in coming days.
Prime Minister Dahal talked about the century-old historical relations between Nepal and China, and lauded innovative approach put forth by Xi for the peace and progress of the region in the present circumstances. Nepal has proved its commitment for one China policy through actions, PM Dahal stressed, clarifying Nepal has adopted an independent and non-aligned foreign policy so the country would not involve in any military strategic plan. PM Dahal also recalled Nepal's earlier move for endorsing the concept of 'Belt and Road Initiative" forwarded by China for it could bring spectacular changes in the infrastructural development of Nepal.
PM Dahal also expressed his belief that China's development would help the development of Asian region. Citing previous visits with PM Dahal, President Xi recalled the moment when he first welcomed Dahal in China after the latter became Nepal's Prime Minister earlier.
